Obituary

James Anthony Spieker Sr. age 94 of Glen Burnie passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 14,2019 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. He was born in New Athens IL, on 8/4/1924 to Hilda Spieker nee McGee and Frank Spieker and later raised by Rudy Pamagua loving step father. He married on 10/22/1946 to Edith O Brinkmeyer and was married for 60 years. They had 10 Children; James A Spieker Jr, Ronald L Spieker, Patricia A Hilgert, Anthony W Spieker, Jean A Taylor, Mary L Sander, Mark S Spieker, Susan A Arend, Lynne A Klein, Ann M Leigh. He served in the Army Airforce for 25 years retiring as a TSGT and fought in WWII in 3 different conflicts. He was wounded in WWII resulting in shrapnel in his leg, which couldn't be removed. Upon retirement he came to settle in Maryland. His other lifetime employment included working as Dietitian/ Cook at North Arundel Hospital and then Chief Dietitian at Fort Howard Veterans Hospital After his retirement from Fort Howard, he work at Wal-Mart as a greeter at the age of 70. He is survived by 8 children, 16 Grand Children, 11 Great Grand Children and a host of Nieces and Nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Edith, son Anthony and daughter Mary. Family and his Catholic faith were very important to him. He enjoyed family gatherings and taking road trips to visit family and regularly attended St Bernadette's Catholic Church until his health no longer permitted but continued with home visits from his faith partner and friend Sandy.Reckert-Reusing.
