Veronica Jean Johnson was born on January 15th, 1967 to Roy Johnson Jr and the late Willie Lois (Franklin) Johnson in Misawa, Japan. She departed this life to rest with God on Tuesday, August 22, 2017. Veronica, a world traveler, called Glen Burnie, Maryland her home. She began her education in Bigglesade, England and lived in Texas, the Philippines, and Alaska. An athlete, Veronica excelled in shotput and discus and took State Championship in both Alaska and Maryland during her high school years. She was a graduate of Old Mill High School where in her senior year she met her high school sweetheart Roy Douglas Carter. The two were married in 1988 and from this union were blessed with two children Cidney Lois Carter and Roy Andrew Carter.

A doting mother, she loved and cherished her children with all her heart; supporting them with her time, wisdom, and strength. Veronica set an example for her family and others to explore their interests and to accomplish their goals. Active in the community, she was a gentle yet giant servant of people and their quality of life. In addition to being a leader of the Girl Scouts, Veronica used her natural talents to listen and mentor the community with her quick and sharp wit. She graduated from Anne Arundel Community College with a degree in Human Services, and then the University of Maryland Baltimore College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. She went on to become an addictions counselor where she used her gifts to aide any one she came in contact with on their life’s journey.

Recently celebrating 30 years of marriage to her husband, Roy Douglas Carter, Veronica yields a legacy of love and happy memories.

Left to cherish Veronica’s precious memory are; her husband Roy Douglas Carter, two children Cidney Carter and Roy Andrew Carter, her father Roy Johnson Jr, her sisters - Debra Johnson and Iris Akwara (Chief Isaac Akwara) and brother - Roy Johnson III, A host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and her beloved animals Fluffy, Yoda, Zippy, Cassiopeia, and Kaileb.
