Raymond Louis Boyer, Jr. (Ray) loving father and grandfather passed suddenly on August 5 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
A resident of Heritage Harbor, he was 86.
Born in Providence, RI he was the son of Raymond L. Boyer and Aurora Pelletier. He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Donna Lee Boyer nee Lovejoy, his son Brian L. Boyer, two brothers and one sister.
He joined the Air Force in 1949 and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1970. After retiring from the military, he later joined ARINC, Westinghouse Corp., and Northrop Grumman where he retired in 1997.
Ray enjoyed being an active volunteer and member of the American Legion. He shared his love of the Legion with his partner in life of 17 years, Betty Barilla. He cherished his country, appreciated our Veterans and was very humbled and honored to volunteer his time and talents at the Annapolis post # 7. Ray was a lifetime member of American Legion post #7, Bowie Elks and the Annapolis Moose.
Ray immensely enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his four sons and daughters in law, Raymond and Robin, Paul and Jeanne, Dale and Chris, and Greg and Lori, as well as his ten grandchildren, Charlotte and Anne-Marie, Cassidy and Dawn, Veronica and Tony, Jake and Grace, and Bethany and Carolyn. He is also survived by his three sisters, Joan Hilderbrandt, Lorraine Angelina, and Donna Rae Connors, as well as his companion Betty Barilla and her grandchildren, Marisa and Miranda. His Viewings will be held at Hardesty Funeral Home, Annapolis Road, Gambrills, MD from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm on Sunday, August 12. On Monday, August 13 at noon a brief service will be held at Hardesty Funeral home followed by procession and burial at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Annapolis American Legion, Post #7, 1905 Crownsville Road, Annapolis, MD 21401.
