Raymond Harold (Bubba) Day, age 86, a resident of Galesville, MD for 67 years passed away on 6/12/17 after fighting a 10 year battle with Parkinson's Disease. Born in Kemptown, MD on 12/12/1930 to Raymond F. and Annie S. Day, he graduated from Frederick High School and attended Anne Arundel Community College from 1964-1965.

He was employed as a bookkeeper for Farmers & Mechanics Bank in Frederick and Watkins Construction Co. in College Park.

He came to Woodfield Fish & Oyster Co. in Galesville in 1950 where he retired in 1992 as a partner.

He was an active member of the Galesville United Methodist Church serving in many capacities. He was a local church representative to the Baltimore Annual Conference.

For nine years he served on Anne Arundel Co. Board of the American Red Cross, working actively in disaster relief services, and serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Baltimore Regional Chapter. In 1972 he was president of the Chesapeake Bay Seafood Industries Association.

Bubba, as he was often called, had a special interest in music. Before coming to Galesville he played trumpet with the Browningsville Band.

He sang in the church choir for over 60 years and became the backbone of a gospel quartet, The Fishermen. Later, he formed a family group called The New Day Singers and also recruited men of his church into The Singing Men.

Harold is predeceased by his parents and survived by his wife of 66 years, Shirley Woodfield Day. He is also survived by three daughters; Judith Loftice (David) of Edgewater, MD, Cheryl Reger (Neil) of Buckhannon, WV, and Cindy Hardesty (Ray) of Edgewater, MD , ten grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two sisters; Dorothy Beall of Ijamsville, MD and Barbara Kemp of Waynesboro, PA.

Visitation will be at Hardesty Funeral Home 905 Galesville Road Galesville, MD 207165 on Friday, June 16, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Funeral service will be held at Galesville United Methodist Church, 4825 Church Lane Galesville, MD 20765 on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens, Davidsonville, MD
