Obituary

Nettie E. Fox, 95, died Jan. 12 at Watts Assisted Living in Severn.

Nettie was dedicated to serving the vol unteer fire depart ment. She was a Charter Member and served in many capacities for the Ladies Auxiliary to the Landover Hills Volunteer Fire, served in many offices of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Prince George's County Firemen's Association and was inducted into their Hall of Fame. She also served the Ladies Auxiliary to the Prince George's County Fire & Rescue Association and the Ladies Auxiliary to the Maryland Fire Chiefs Association. She was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Maryland State Firemen's Association, served as chairman of the Bessie Marshall Fund Committee, and served as their President (1957-58), and was inducted into the Ladies Auxiliary to the Maryland State Firemen's Association Hall of Fame in 2002.

She was also actively involved in the Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Post 8950, in Lanham, and served in many capacities. She was an organizer and served as President of St. Mary's Leisure Club. She remained active in all of the aforesaid organizations into her late 80's and received many commendations and awards for her service.

She enjoyed traveling, and working crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, William W. Fox, sons William J. Fox and Richard W. Fox and daughter Sharon E. Lawson.

She is survived by her daughter, Elinor J. Harvey of Crofton; son, Robert M. Fox of St. Leonard's; sister, Ernestine Hodges of Covington, Va.; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
