Michael Edward Adamchek, 56, a resident of Glen Burnie for four years and previously of Annapolis, died April 17 of a heart attack. He was born Aug. 9, 1954, in Manhattan, NY, to Anna Vasquez, and received his A.A. degree in air traffic control at Sheppard Air Force Base. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and had served in Desert Storm. He was employed for 14 years as a U.S. Postal Service mail carrier in Eastport. Michael had his pilot's license and loved to fly. He volunteered with the Special Olympics in Korea, and at a Dude Ranch in upstate New York, working with inner city children. He also enjoyed whitewater rafting and horseback riding. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his former spouse, Laurie Adamchek; three daughters, Avalon Adamchek and Juliette Adamchek, both of Annapolis, and Ana Pineda of Anna, TX; two brothers, Matthew Adamchek of Monroe, NY and Christopher Adamchek of MA; sister, Katherine Schneider of Sleepy Hollow, NY; and five grandchildren. A memorial gathering will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, April 22 at Hardesty Funeral Home, 12 Ridgely Avenue, Annapolis. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville at a later date.
