Obituary

Mary Pearl Mealey, 85, a resident of Annapolis for more than 60 years, died June 21 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Mrs. Mealey was born Feb. 28, 1922, in Birmingham, Ala. She was a homemaker, an exercise instructor at the Annapolis Recreational Center and the proprietor of Mary's Antique Dolls in St. Mary's County.

Her interests included sewing, coaching softball and basketball, walking, exercise and bowling. She was a member of the Southern Maryland Doll Club, St. Andrew's XYZ Club and St. Andrew's United Methodist Church.

On Aug. 6, 1938, she married John Edward "Bill" Mealey who died in 1999. She was the mother of James W. Mealey who died in 1977.

Surviving are two sons, John Edward Mealey of Sparks, Nev., and Timothy Mealey of Edgewater; one daughter, Patricia M. Phillips of Oceanview, Del.; one brother, Jack Callaway of Boaz, Ala.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
