Maria Julia Alcebo, 88, a two-year resident of Annapolis and formerly of New Haven, Conn., died June 8 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness.

Mrs. Alcebo was born Dec. 19, 1918, in Havana, Cuba, and immigrated to the United States in 1961.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Annapolis and the Arnold Senior Center.

Her interests included ceramics, mystery novels and gardening.

On June 10, 1945, she married Raul Alcebo, who died in 1984. She was the mother of the late Raul Alcebo Jr. Surviving are three daughters, Ana Maria Phillips of Annapolis and Graciella DeLise and Alicia Alcebo, both of Yuba City, Calif.; one sister, Margarita Enciso of Miami; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
