Macie Jones Stodghill, 77, a resident of Crownsville for over 50 years and formerly of San Antonio, died Dec. 16 at home after a lengthy illness.

Born Aug. 11, 1927, in Bay City, Mich., the daughter of the late Edwin and Evelyn Jones, Mrs. Stodghill attended Arundel High School.

Retiring in 1983, she worked for Eastman Kodak Company in Rockville, Md. for over 20 years.

Mrs. Stodghill was a member of Baldwin Memorial United Methodist Church, where she served as past leader of the Faith Circle. She also belonged to the Millersville 55+ Club, AARP and served once served as a Girl Scout leader.

Among her interests were oil painting, gardening, needlepoint, sewing, travel, reading, crossword puzzles and recently, the computer.

She was the widow of Robert C. Stodghill, whom she married in 1947. He died in March 1994.

Surviving are her son, Robert C. Stodghill of Severn, and one daughter, Diane Slavin of Silver Spring.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Baldwin Memorial United Methodist Church in Crownsville. Burial will follow in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville. Arrangements are by Hardesty Funeral Home.
