Kathleen Griffin “Momma Kath” Sorrell, 56, a longtime resident of Churchton, died July 26, 2017 after an 18 month battle with cancer. Born in Davie, FL on February 3, 1961, she was a 1979 graduate of Cooper City High School and also attended Florida State University. She worked for over 31 years in the automotive industry as a finance director. An avid lover of country music, especially Garth Brooks, she was a youth soccer coach, and in her spare time, she loved going to the beach, the Baltimore Ravens and Washington Capitals, going to concerts, dogs, shopping, boating, water skiing, being outdoors, hiking, camping, theater, education, fashion, nightlife, travel and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, David Scott Sorrell, Jr. of Annapolis, Kathleen Vermont Sorrell of Friendship and Kaitlin Marie Ergenbright of Okinawa, Japan; grandchildren Cason James Ergenbright and Kyler Rai Ergenbright; siblings Gerald Joseph Griffin, Jr. of Davie, FL, Christina Griffin Smith Ball of Oklahoma City, OK and Regina Griffin Scott of Pineville; and her former husband, David Scott Sorrell of Fort Worth, TX. She was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Anthony Griffin.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, August 5 from 3-5 PM, followed by a celebration of life at 5 PM, at Hardesty Funeral Home, 905 Galesville Road, Galesville. Interment will be private.
