It is with great sadness that the family of Jay Allen Moore of Annapolis, Maryland announces his passing on Sunday, March 3, 2019, at the age of 65. Jay is loved and remembered by his wife Michele, surviving children Candice, Christina, and Jason, sister Vickie Smith, brother Kevin Moore, and six grandchildren. Jay’s passing is celebrated with the eternal love of his youngest son, Joseph, brother Joseph Jr., sister Robin Watkins, and his loving parents Joseph and Barbara which of whom are in spirit.

Jay spent his life dedicated to public service. After a failed attempt to enlist into the Marine Corps at age 16, Jay waited patiently and finally became a United States Marine in 1972. After the Marines, Jay later served 32 years on the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington D.C.

Jay’s love for history and natural storytelling abilities lead him to join various organizations where he helped retell stories of both American and Irish history.

A celebration of Jay’s life will be held on Sunday, March 10 from 1pm-3pm and from 5pm-7pm at the Hardesty Funeral Home in Gambrills, Maryland:
851 Annapolis Rd, Gambrills, MD 21054.

A mass will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, March 12 at St. John’s the Evangelist: 689 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD 21146.

To help protect American history, Jay requested any memorial donations to be made on behalf of the Jay Moore Memorial fund to:
