Helen Anne "Nanny" Utkus Rudderow, 91, a resident of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, died April 7, 2015 at Fairfield Long Term Care in Crownsville, MD after a seven year battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born in Philadelphia on June 4, 1923, she was a graduate of Overbrook High School in Philadelphia. During her career, she worked for Curtis Publishing Co. in Philadelphia, the printing division of Jack & Jill Books and the Saturday Evening Post (where she met Norman Rockwell). She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Oaklyn, NJ where she was active in many social activities. She was a USO volunteer at the Philadelphia airport for 20 years and also volunteered with local cancer survivors for 10 years, making hats for patients with hair loss due to the disease. She was also known for all the amazing crocheting and knitting pieces she created for family, friends and patients in need of a loving gift to keep them warm. She was very proud of crocheting a queen size bedspread that took two years to create - an amazing piece of work!
