Gloria Anne Walstrum

CROWNSVILLE — Gloria Anne (Weeks) Walstrum, age 96, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018 at Fairfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Crownsville.

Born on November 19, 1921 in Baltimore, Md., she was the daughter of the late Helen Virginia (Doran) and Claude Bert Weeks. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Charles Walstrum Sr, her son John William Walstrum, and her sister Helen Lee (Adams) Weeks. She is survived by her brother John Robert Weeks of Berlin, her son William Charles Walstrum Jr. and his wife Barbara Lee (Kosar) Walstrum of Stevensville, her daughter Helen Lee Bryant and her husband Jimmy of Crownsville and her daughter-in-law Penny Lee (Baker) Walstrum.

Also surviving are her grandchildren John Robert Walstrum and his partner Nadia, Michael James Walstrum and his partner Tammy, Nicole Lynn Schmidl and her husband Hans, Brian Robert Walstrum and his wife Stacey, William Charles Walstrum III and his partner Zsanta, Joseph Christian Walstrum and his wife Stacy, Scott Matthew Walstrum and his wife Amy, Jennifer Anne Busold and her husband Jamie, Suzanne Michele Goldhirsh and her husband Gabe and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Gloria lived her childhood years and attended primary school in Catonsville. A number of years after her father’s death, her mother remarried Harold Calvert Morgan and the family relocated to Pimlico. There she attended Forest Park High School and later took employment as a packer at the Continental Can Company in Baltimore City, where she met her future husband William in 1941. A few years after the end of WWII they moved to Woodlawn to raise their family. After the children moved on the begin their lives, Gloria and her husband relocated to Rehoboth Beach Delaware in 1992. After the passing of her husband, Gloria remained in Delaware for twenty-two years before returning to Maryland.

Gloria was a consummate housewife and homemaker who spent her adult life raising a strong and loving family. She loved spending time with her family and friends. In her spare time she enjoyed bowling duckpins and the friendships of her teammates. Additionally, she was a self taught, yet accomplished and prolific crocheter. Gloria enjoyed the serenity of the time spent on her craft and frequently gifted her family with beautiful products of her creation.

Visitation will be held on Sunday Oct. 7 from 3-5pm with a Service beginning at 5pm at Hardesty Funeral Home, P.A., 851 Annapolis Rd., Gambrills, MD 21054. Interment will take place Wednesday Oct. 10 at 11am at Lakeview Memorial Park in Sykesville, MD. In lieu of flowers donations are welcome to Heartlands Hospice.
