Gayle Williams Wright, 57, a resident of Annapolis for 35 years, died of respiratory failure July 31 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Mrs. Wright was born Oct. 14, 1950, in Yonkers, N.Y., to the late Robert Stewart and Jean Leith Williams. He earned a bachelor's degree in English and education from State University of New York-Brockport.

She was a teacher at Wroxeter-on-Severn and St. Mary's in the 1970s.

She was a member of the Junior League, Annapolis Association of University Women and Anchorage Garden Club.

She enjoyed ballet, poetry, water-color painting, gardening and spending time with her family, friends and pets.

Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Francis D. Wright; two daughters, Anne Wright Stewart of Wilmington, Del., and Elizabeth Williams Wright of San Diego; and four sisters, Debra Kneubluhler of Atlanta, Ga., Jill Kinney of East Amherst, N.Y., Bonnie Johnson of Westminster, Colo., and Lisa Minter of Severna Park.
