David John Mykita, Crownsville, MD, cherished husband of Victoria Marie Commins, and beloved brother, uncle, and brother-in-law, passed away on Thursday, April 27th. Born June 5, 1949, in Carnegie, PA, Dave dedicated his life to teaching math in local high schools and colleges, public service to support the arts, travel, his beloved Pittsburgh and Baltimore sports teams, and, of most of all, his wife and extended family. He earned a BA and an MEd in math from the University of Pittsburgh, and resided most of his adult life in Baltimore and the Annapolis area. Dave is survived by his wife, Vicky, his brother, Michael Mykita, and sister-in-law, Angela Mykita, as well as their two children, Nicholas and Alexandra (Pittsburgh, PA), nephews Scott and Keith Jones and families, and numerous Commins in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 3rd, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hardesty Funeral Home, 12 Ridgely Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21401. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, May 4th, at 11:00 a.m., St. Jane Frances deChantal Catholic Church, 9601 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda, MD 20814. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Live Arts Maryland.
