John Daniel Nelson III” Dan” 71, of Severn passed away on January 17, 2019.

Dan was born to John Daniel Nelson Jr. and Gloria Eads Nelson, February 14, 1947 in Takoma Park, MD. He graduated from Bladensburg High School in 1965. He served two years in the US Army. He attended trade school and studied Iron Work. In 1966 he married Lynn Mozingo and together they raised two children.

He leaves as his legacy two children, Sheri Damico (Frank) and Rick Nelson. He also leaves to cherish his memory a wife of 53 years, Lynn, a sister, Marie Burke and five grandchildren, Jordan Nelson, Danielle Damico, Haley Damico- Mayhew (Maxwell), Gabrielle Damico, Nicholas Damico.

He was preceded in death by Jack Nelson (Father) and Gloria Nelson (Mother).

Dan was an Iron Worker with Local #5 until he retired in 2002. In retirement he enjoyed customizing muscle cars and entering them into car shows. He looked forward to his monthly union meetings and lunch with close friends. He was proud to share how he spoiled his three Chow Chow fur children, Chewy, Kody, and Sassy.

Visitation is scheduled for January 28, 2019, 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 7:00 - 9:00 PM. Funeral Service is scheduled for January 29, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the Hardesty Funeral Home, 851 Annapolis Road, Gambrills, MD 21054. Burial will take place immediately after the funeral service at The Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
