Obituary

Chun C. Louie peacefully passed away in his home in Severn, Maryland, on March 31, 2019. He was born December 1942, in Canton, China, to the late Hung Hor Louie and Bo Chu Ng. After immigrating to the United States in 1961, he graduated from Gallaudet College (University), Washington, D.C., in 1968. Chun married Wai Ying in January 1977. He retired in 1999 after 31 years of service as the head photographer for the Department of Publications and Printing at Gallaudet University. In addition to capturing Gallaudet University’s ceremonies and historic events, including the Deaf President Now protest in March 1988, Chun’s contributions included designing The Mace and original President's Medallion (1969) (a symbol of [Gallaudet] University’s authority;

As his family grew, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends by sharing his cooking, observing nature and fishing trips, perpetual do-it-yourself projects, engaging contenders in table tennis, and occasional poker games. The eldest of six children, he is survived by Peter Louie; Chiu Man Louie; Chiu King Louie (Vella); Chiu Ming Louie (Andy Chan); and Chiu Cheung Louie, along with several nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his son, Anthony. Chun is survived by Wai Ying, his wife of 42 years; his daughter Rosanna; his son-in-law Lucas, and his two grandsons, Nolan and Dominic.Online condolences may be placed at www.hardestyfuneralhome.com
