Anita Knold Foy, 49, a longtime teacher, Navy wife and a seven-year resident of Crofton, died of heart failure June 19 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Mrs. Foy was born July 15, 1953, in Bethesda. She received a bachelor of science degree from Stetson University in Deland, Fla., and a master's degree in reading from Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Fla., where she taught world history at Stanton College Preparatory School.

She also taught high school in Florida and Michigan before teaching at Broadneck High School from 1986 to 1990 and Southern High School from 1998 to 1999. Most recently she worked part time as a reading specialist at North Glen Elementary School.

She was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Crownsville and a childhood friend of the Van Zant brothers, better known as members of the rock group, Leonard Skinnard.

Surviving are her husband of 18 years, David Foy; her daughter, Regan Foy of Crofton; and her mother, Ady Knold, and her sister, Pam Kohl, both of Jacksonville.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hardesty Funeral Home, 851 Annapolis Road, Gambrills. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Jacksonville Park Lane Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Fla.
