Obituary

C. Meade Baldwin, born February 3, 1939, passed gently into the arms of the Lord on May 12, 2018. He was preceded in death by his father, William E. Baldwin, Jr. and his mother, Dorothy Meade Baldwin. Left behind are his beloved family: his wife, Carolyn, daughter, Lenne', son, Meade and granddaughter, Larissa Oktay, brothers, Bill (Arlene), Jack (Ruth), sisters, Dorothy Goodson and Mary Wyatt (Ronald) and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a Vice President of Reliable Contracting where he had worked for 61 years, right up to the time of his death. His dedication to Reliable Contracting was unmatched. Reliable is a synonym for Meade as he was totally reliable to family, friends, church and work. He faithfully attended Our Lady of the Field Catholic Church. where he was well liked by everyone. He had a presence wherever he went that was hard to overlook.

Meade had many interests one of which was raising Polled Hereford cattle with his brothers at Church View Farm. He was a street rod enthusiast, traveling around the country showing his cars and earning awards. He was a partner in Rodders Journal, a street rodders collector magazine. In his younger days, he and his brother, Bill, raced a dragster named the Gladiator. He was a lifelong member of the Gambrills Athletic Club and served as a board member.

During the Cuban missile crisis, he was called to serve by the National Guard. He was stationed at Fort Eustis, Virginia.

Meade led a full, happy, productive life. He will be greatly missed by his loving family, wonderful friends and all who knew him.
