Audrey Elizabeth Vaughn, 93
Annapolis, Maryland, formerly College Park, Maryland. Audrey passed away peacefully of natural causes on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Morningside House of Friendship in Hanover, MD. Audrey was born in Washinton, DC on December 28, 1924, the only child of Walter and Rose Vogelsang. She graduated from Calvin Coolidge High School in June of 1942 and married her high school sweetheart on August 17, 1943. She was preceeded in death by her true kindred spirit, Tom Vaughn, after more than 64 glorious years of marriage. While Tom was away fighting in WWII, Audrey worked for the U.S. Government War Office in Washington, DC. When her man finally came home, she gladly became a housewife and loving and caring mother of five children; Tom Vaughn, Jr., Sharon Taylor (Steve), Donna Ford, Patricia McNeely (George) and Michael Vaughn (Susan). She also has 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. After raising her children, Audrey went back to work part time for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Hyattsville, Md until she retired in 1984. Audrey loved to garden and was keenly interested in the latest fashions and hairstyles; but most of all, she devoted her life to her husband and family whom she dearly loved and who loved her beyond words. Audrey was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Berwyn, MD until moving to Annapolis in 1988. She then became a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Davidsonville, MD and was currently a member of St. Lawrence Martyr Catholic Church in Hanover, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Lawrence Martyr Catholic Church , 7850 Parkside Boulevard, Hanover, MD on Thursday, April 5 at 2:00 pm.
