Obituary

Mary Winona Brown Deinlein died peacefully November 21 at her home at Heartlands of Severna Park surrounded by her family. She was 97.

Mrs. Deinlein, known to her friends and family as Winnie or Monie, was born in Columbia, South Carolina on April 25, 1920, and raised in Norfolk, Virginia. She graduated from Maury High School in 1938 before taking a job with the War Department. She was one of the first employees to work in the Pentagon when it opened in 1943. In 1944, she met her husband Eugene Franklin Deinlein, and they were married 56 years before he passed away in August of 2000. Mr. and Mrs. Deinlein moved to the Millersville area in 1946, and she has resided locally ever since.

Love and enthusiasm colored all of Mrs. Deinlein’s endeavors. Whether playing bridge, making beaded necklaces, traveling, dining out, going to the ocean, or simply spending time with those she adored, Mrs. Deinlein spread love and good cheer.

She is survived by her five children Eugene, Jr. (Marie), Pam Tinsley (Jim), Debbie Vernon (Ron-deceased), Beth Duckett (Joe), and Susan McGuire (Mark). She had the pleasure of witnessing her legacy including eleven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Hardesty Funeral Home in Gambrills on Friday, Nov 24 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral mass and burial will be said at Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church in Millersville on Saturday, Nov 25 starting at 10 am.
