the European Theatre. He was a lab technician, who retired from the Army after 26 years. Continuing his profession, he retired from the Federal
Government in 1980. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, bowled on many leagues, loved the Orioles and the Ravens, and knew every John
Wayne movie by heart. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 68 years, Iva L. Nelson. He is survived by his daughters, Viola Strong
of Clarksville, TN., Joanna Stephenson of Alexandria, VA., Joyce (Wayne) Madairy of Cambridge, MD., and Ruth (Jim) Chittum of Millsboro, DE.;
4 grandchildren and 4 great- grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 am on Thursday, February 23 at Hardesty Funeral Home, 12 Ridgely Ave., Annapolis,
MD. Funeral service will be held at 10:45 am, with military honors, at Maryland Veteran's Cemetery, Crownsville, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
