Obituary

Walter John Zawislak, 73, of Glen Burnie, died April 16.

Mr. Zawislak was born March 21, 1937, in Niagara Falls, N.Y.

He served in the U.S. Navy, and was a Russian linguist for the U.S. Naval Security Group from 1955-1965.

He was a member of the Naval Cryptological Veterans Association, Fleet Reserve, Retired Enlisted Association, and was a Life Member of the DAV.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phoebe Zawislak, who died in 1993. He is survived by two sons, CDR Edward L. Zawislak, USN of Port Orchard, Wash., and Walter George Zawislak of Glen Burnie; one daughter, Elizabeth Marie Stein of Marriottsville; one brother, Thomas Zawislak of Kodak, Tenn.; two sisters, Helen Wiley of Niagara Falls, N.Y., and Mary Nasca of Delmar, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren.
