Obituary

Sheldon Joel "Shelly" Wollman, 70, a 20-year resident of Edgewater, died at his home on April 5th from prostate cancer.


He was born November 6, 1938 in Annapolis.


He received his bachelor's degree from Johns Hopkins, graduated from University of Maryland School of Dentistry and from University of Pennsylvania Periodontics.


He served as a Captain in the United States Air Force, Dental Practitioner, D.D.S.


Shelly was a founding partner of Periodontal Assoc. Mid-Atlantic Dental Corp., Dental Management Corp. Most recently he was a partner in "Go Swim Productions", LLC.


He was a Diplomate of the American Academy of Periodontics, an All American High School Basketball Player, a Professor of the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and played basketball at Johns Hopkins University.


He was a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of Periodontics and Kneseth Israel and Temple Beth Shalom.


He loved basketball, fitness and working out. He was an avid Maryland Terps fan and a fan of the University of Florida Swim Team. He loved spending time with his family.


He was preceded in death by one son, David Wollman.


Survivors include his wife, Paula M. Wollman, whom he married October 2, 1989; two sons, H. M. Wollman of New York, N.Y. and Evan B. Wollman, of Edgewater; two daughters, Gayle M. Wollman of New York, N.Y. and Stacie J. Wollman of Edgewater; one brother, Robert Wollman of Pikesville; and two grandchildren.
