Obituary

Selwyn Todd Battle Sr, 55, died on April 27, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland.

Todd, as he was affectionately called, was born June 3, 1962 in El Paso, Texas to the parents of Johnny J. Battle Sr and Helen L. Battle.

Since Todd’s father was in the military, his early childhood was spent in multiple locations to include Texas, Boston, Alaska and Maryland. He attended Arundel High School, Maryland and graduated in 1981. Following high School, he continued his education at Howard Community College on a baseball scholarship where he also tried out for several pro teams. Todd served in the United States Army from 1982- 1990 where he was the recipient of many awards and medals. After completing his military obligation, he worked for many years in the construction industry. Throughout his life, Todd was a talented athlete who excelled in several sports and was a lifelong, die hard Dallas Cowboys fan! Two of Todd’s endearing qualities for which he will most be remembered was his fun-loving, jovial nature and his kind spirit.

During his youth, he was a member of Cavalry Chapel on Ft. Meade, MD. Most recently, he had been a member of Arundel Baptist Church of Odenton, MD. Todd made an everlasting impression on many people and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his mother, Helen Battle; daughter, Christan Battle; son, Selwyn Todd Battle Jr; 4 grandchildren, Isaiah Sesay, Makenzie Battle, Janayah Battle and Josiah Battle; sister, Beryl Solomon; 2 Brothers, Craig Battle Sr and Warren Battle; Sister -in-law, Irene Battle; 4 nephews, Winston Solomon, Craig Battle Jr, Sharod Solomon, Camron Battle;1 niece, Sanayah Solomon and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by sister, Judy Battle; brother Johnny Battle Jr; and father, Johnny Battle Sr.



Interment will be held on 9 May at 1:00 pm at Crownsville Veteran Cemetery.
