Obituary

Retired Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer Rodolfo "Rudy" Adriano, 60, a resident of Annapolis for 35 years, died of cancer Aug. 1 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a nine-month illness.

Chief Adriano was born Oct. 24, 1944, and educated in the Philippines. He was in the Navy for 26 years, and had served six admirals while they were Naval Academy superintendents. He received a perfect score on the 2nd class petty officer exam.

Chief Adriano also was the owner of Jeno's Steaks Deli in Severna Park for 16 years.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and enjoyed cooking and gardening.

Surviving are his wife, Ely Adriano, whom he married March 2, 1967; two sons, Rodolfo Adriano Jr. and Mark Adriano of Annapolis; one daughter, Lyn Jenny of Snohomish, Wash.; and one grandson. He was the brother of Floring, May, Corazon, Esme, Lito, Baby, Ponnie and Ninia Adriano.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today at Hardesty Funeral Home, 12 Ridgely Ave. A funeral Mass will be offered at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Road. Burial will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Mid-Atlantic Division, Inc. 1041 Route 3 North, Building A, Gambrills MD 21054, or Joy in the Spirit of the Lord Prayer Group, 1702 Treehouse, Annapolis, MD 21401.
