Obituary

Matthew Boyd Shutt, of Hyattsville, MD, died unexpectedly on May 25, 2017 at the age of 30.

Matthew was born on January 30, 1987 in Warsaw, NY. He was a 2005 graduate of Letchworth Central School in Gainesville where he played football, baseball, and was a member of the National Honor's Society. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Adaptive Physical Education from SUNY Brockport and received a scholarship to get his Master's Degree from the University of Wisconsin.

He was an adaptive physical education teacher for the Prince George's Public School System, Professor at the Children's Developmental Clinic through the University of Maryland, and camp leader for Howard County Recreation and Parks. Matthew had a passion for working with children with special needs. The children, parents, and his co-workers all loved his passion and love for what he did.

Matthew enjoyed spending time with his wife, family, friends and dogs, bowling, golfing, hunting, and watching his favorite football team the Buffalo Bills.

He is survived by his wife – Renee, whom he married July 17, 2014; parents - Mark and Quay Shutt of Bliss, brother - Mark Shutt, Jr. of Chaffee, three nephews - Gavin, Landen and Owen Shutt; grandfather - Ronald Sterry of New Jersey and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Matt could light up a room and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

There will be a gathering at Hardesty Funeral Home, located at 12 Ridgely Ave Annapolis, MD on Thursday, June 1, 2017. Visitation will take place at 4:00 with a memorial at 6:30 to celebrate Matthew's life.
