Obituary

Loren Benjamin Elliott, age 73, a lifelong resident of Annapolis before moving to Queenstown 12 years ago, died at his residence on April 6, 2018 after an 11 month battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Annapolis on December 13, 1944, he was a 1964 graduate of Annapolis High School. Loren was a general contractor who served his country in the US Army from 1965-68. He was a sergeant with the 591st MP First Calvary Airmobile Division and advanced to an E-5 before being honorably discharged. He was a sharpshooter of rifles and pistols and he earned the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars.
Loren was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved music, especially trop rock, and he loved spending time at the Florida beaches. He was a member of St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Annapolis Elks Lodge 622, VFW Post 304 and American Legion Post 7.
Loren is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara George Elliott; his son, Ryan Scott Elliott (wife Cathy) of Annapolis; granddaughters Sadie and Samantha; his brother, Phillip K. Elliott of Annapolis, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin P. and Doris Day Wigley Elliott, and siblings Nancy and Donald Elliott.
Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, April 11 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Hardesty Funeral Home, 12 Ridgely Avenue, Annapolis. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 12 at 12:15 PM at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, 1120 Spa Road, Annapolis, with burial to follow at 1:45 PM at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Loren’s memory may be made to St. Martin’s Lutheran Church or Faces of Valor USA (www.facesofvalorusa.org).
