John William “Jack” Robinson, age 83, a one year resident of Severna Park and previously of Odenton, died of natural causes at his residence on October 28, 2017. Born in Wellsboro, PA on April 13, 1934, Jack graduated from Penn State University in 1963 with a BA in Electrical Engineering. Jack proudly served his country in the US Army from 1952-73, advancing to the rank of major. He served in Vietnam, Korea and Berlin, Germany and his medals included the Bronze Star and Legion of Merit. After retiring from the Army, he worked for the Defense Department from 1973-1999 and for Northrup Grumman from 1999-2009. He enjoyed automobile maintenance and spending time with his family.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Arlyne Robinson, who died May 14, 2014. He is survived by his children; John W. Robinson, Jr. of Painted Post, NY, Linda Talley of Waldorf, Joan Knipping of Millersville, Mary Grindlay of Manteo, NC and Ginger Robinson of Odenton; his brother, Gordon Robinson of State College, PA; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Visiting hours for family and friends will be on Thursday, November 2 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, with a funeral service on Friday, November 3 at 1:00 PM at Hardesty Funeral Home, 851 Annapolis Road, Gambrills, MD. Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jack’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
