James “Jim” Carter died unexpectedly in Anne Arundel Medical Center on January 9, 2018 in Annapolis, MD at the age of 67.
Jim is survived by his wife, Judy Carter of Pocomoke City, MD; his daughters Kathleen Carter of Annapolis, MD and Renee Schwartz-Shutt of Hyattsville, MD; and his mother Gerda Carter of Millersville, MD. He is preceded in death by his father William Carter of Millersville, MD.
Jim was born on March 25, 1950 in Washington, D.C. to William and Gerda Carter. He graduated high school in Germany before pursuing a career as a police officer. He married his wife, Judy (whom he met at the police department) on November 19, 1978. Jim retired as an officer in 1989, and began pursuing an interest in antiques.
Jim was a passionate antiques dealer and outdoorsmen. He was a loving and dedicated family man and avid dog lover. When he wasn’t restoring antiques, he was taking walks with his dog Sable, fishing, boating, and spending time with his family.
