Obituary

Harry R. Asquith Sr., 66, a resident of Cape St. Claire for 38 years and formerly of Annapolis, died of cancer July 21 at Anne Arundel Medical Center Hospice.

Born April 6, 1940, in Annapolis, the son of the late Doris Brown and Peter Asquith, Mr. Asquith served in the Navy from 1960 to 1964.

Mr. Asquith retired in 2002 from D&M Distributing, where he worked 36 years, first as a driver and then as a warehouse manager.

He was a member of American Legion Post 60 in Berkley Spring, W.Va. and the Elks Lodge.

His interests included golf, hunting and visiting his mountain home in West Virginia.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret Kleeberg Asquith, whom he married in 1968; two sons, Joseph Mattison of Edgewater and Harry R. Asquith Jr. of Berkley Springs, W.Va.; two daughters, Roxanne Waddell of Pedro, Ohio, and Lisa Maxey of Lakeland, Fla.; one brother, Melvin P. Asquith of Riva; one sister, Deborah Gail Snyder of Glen Burnie; and nine grandchildren.
