Obituary

Edward Thomas Sears, 70, of Severn, MD passed from this life on April 22 after losing his battle to cancer. He was the only son of Edward C. Sears and Elsie Roberts Sears, born in Liverpool, England on May 20, 1946. He was a 1966 graduate of Arundel High School. Ed joined the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam era, and received an honorable discharge. He was a Fingerprint Examiner for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington DC and Bridgeport, WV, before retiring in 2001 after 30 years of service. He received numerous awards for his dedicated service and outstanding skills and contributions. He was also employed for 25 years part time at Giant Food in the produce department. After two years of retirement Ed returned to the work force as a supervisory Fingerprint Examiner with BAE Systems, Rosslyn, VA where he worked until his death.
Edward served as a Cub Scout leader in the early 1980's. His hobbies included photography, spending time with his family, and his work. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He especially enjoyed attending and photographing or filming his grandchildren's events – from school activities to sporting events. He was excellent with photoshop and was very creative.
Ed was preceded in death by both of his parents as well as his father in law, Howard Tucker, Hubbard, OH and brother in law Kenneth Tucker, Youngstown, OH. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Marlene Tucker (aka Marti) Sears, whom he married April 5, 1975. One son, Bret, daughter in law Wendy; three grandsons. Alexander, Ethan and Wyatt; a granddaughter, Elliana, all of Severn, MD. He also leaves two sisters, Susan (Roger) Chaplin, Sims, NC, and Barabara (Mike) Bunker of Arnold, MD; sister in laws: Sandra Amoroso, Parsonfield, ME; Doretta (Allen) Jolly, Norton, OH; Linda Tucker, Youngstown, OH; brother in law Orrin (Debbie) Tucker, Hubbard, OH; Mother in law Verda Tucker, Youngstown, OH. Numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Interment will be at the Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD.
