Christine Temple, age 85, died Tuesday, January 9th at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Christine leaves five children: James Temple Jr., (Karen), David Temple (Louanne), Peggy Jo Temple, Beth Haskins (Dennis), and Christopher Temple. She also leaves behind ten grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren. Christine is survived by her sisters, Maggie Koch, Rose Hensh, Joey Abi-Nader, Cookie Benson and Bobby Michael. Christine was predeceased by her son Michael Temple, her grandsonMatthew Temple, and her husband of 65 years, James Temple Sr.
Though recently widowed, Christine continued to uplift and encourage those around her. She loved her family and loved to laugh. She found the most joy and happiness in celebrating their accomplishments. Maintaining her childlike joy, Christine was known to play practical jokes. Her favorite thing was to hide and scare her youngest son Christopher (her namesake). As Christine would say, she loved to “boo” people. An avid and voracious reader, Christine was always sure to have a book close at hand. Often seen in purple and bright orange, Christine was a diehard Ravens and Orioles fan.
In years past, Christine had been a member of the Volunteer Red Cross, NCO Wives Club and The Red Hat Society. Christine also claimed she was a charter member of the “Old Soldiers Wives Club” which may or may not have been a bona fideorganization. As an active parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, she was a member of the Sodality of Our Lady and was a sponsor in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. Along with her husband, she was deeply involved in the church’s food pantry program for the homeless.
Visitation will be Friday, January 12th from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm, at Hardesty Funeral Home in Gambrills. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday January 13th at 11 am at St Joseph’s Church in Odenton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church Odenton, Maryland in support of their sister parish’s “Haiti School Fund.” Online condolences maybe left for the family at
