Obituary

Charles Bell "Charlie" Adams, 68, a seven-year resident of Arnold and formerly of Gambrills, died Feb. 21 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

On Nov. 15, 1986, he was the 65th recipient of a heart transplant at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Mr. Adams was born Dec. 1, 1935, in Halethorpe in Baltimore County, the son of the late Reva T. and Arthur L. Adams Sr. He attended Catonsville High School.

He retired five years ago after working as a ceramic tile contractor in the region.

Among his interests were horse racing and sports.

Surviving are his wife, Adele Adams, whom he married in 1955; two sons, Charles C. "Chuck" Adams of Annapolis and Thomas L. "Tom" Adams of Baltimore; two daughters, Charlene A. Adams Ledford of Glen Burnie and Donna Jean "DJ" Adams Pierson of Prince Frederick; two brothers, John William "Billy" Adams of Ocean Pines and Arthur Leroy "Al" Adams of Baltimore; three sisters, Margaret Boss and Betty Knecht, both of Arbutus, and Gladys Gardner of Halethorpe; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was the brother of the late Donald L. and Gilbert Adams.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Hardesty Funeral Home, 12 Ridgely Ave., where funeral services will be at noon tomorrow. Burial will be private.
